Elevating World Language Classroom Practice with SEL
Target Audience: World Language Teachers, Coaches, Administrators, Other
We know our students need support with their social and emotional learning- but what is it and what can I do as an educator? Join us as we learn to build a positive world language learning environment using SEL and prepare students for the future Global World. Participants will also explore ways to elevate their teaching practice to the next level with SEL integration into their lesson design to support the whole student.
Day 1: Building Positive World Language Learning Environment with SEL

Intentions: Participants will…
- Gain an overview of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in the World Language Classroom to build classroom community
- Explore the relationship between academics, behavior, and social-emotional skills
- Discuss how SEL can support students become socially aware Global citizens
- Brainstorm practical ways to integrate SEL strategies into World Language lesson-design and classroom practices
